The Life of David: Wk 2

May 9, 2021    Todd Blansit

How do we worship when it's a struggle?
We look at the life of David to see how he worshiped for an audience of one!

**Message Notes**
1 Samuel 13.13-14, NIV

David knew what worship was all about.

2 Samuel 6.12-19

David recognized that nothing was more important than the presence of God!

He worshiped for an audience of one.

David was not wearing his royal attire, and he was wearing the ephod, which was for the priest.
The ephod David wore was made of fine linen and consisted of two pieces, covering both back and front (Exodus 28:6–8, 31–32). The two pieces were fastened together over the shoulders and held at the waist by a belt of some kind. The ephod worn by the high priests would have been different, as it was embroidered with gold and bright colors and somehow bore the Urim and Thummim by which God directed the people.
David was showing the people that God is the head of this kingdom.

2 Samuel 6:20-22

2 Samuel 11:1-5

If we aren’t careful, we can stop pursuing the things of God and set ourselves up for disaster.

David also knew what it meant to repent!

1 Samuel 13.13-14

David knew what worship was all about.

2 Samuel 6:12-19

David recognized that nothing was more important than the presence of God!

He danced with all his might.

In that moment, it wasn’t about his position, his reputation, the thoughts of anyone.
He worshiped for an audience of one.

David was showing the people that God is the head of this kingdom.

2 Samuel 6:20-22

2 Samuel 11.1-5

David also knew what it meant to repent!

The natural sequel to sin is not repentance but hiding. It’s to cover up and try to move on.
Psalm 32:1-5

It’s easy to see repentance as something that terrible sinners do, but that is not the truth; we all must learn to live a life of repentance.
Matthew 6:12
